All the heaters imported for the Kenyan market, are available in 6.0 kW capacities, 220-240V A.C, 50/60Hz.
Can one use heaters of lower heating capacity?
Yes one can use heaters of lower heating capacity, but as the temperature in Nairobi and other highland areas are lower, the water would not heat sufficiently, to have a comfortable shower.
How long after switching on the heater does one get hot water?
It takes approximately fifteen (15) seconds for the water to heat up, once the heater is switched on.
What if I forget to switch off the power supply to the heater?
All our heaters have a water flow sensor switch, which only lets powers, once there is a minimum of 2 (two) litres/minute. This, safeguards against the possibility of the element heating dry and a possible fire.
Does one need special wiring for the heater?
Yes, as with any heating device, the electrical wiring must be done to manufacturers specifications. The specification, are indicated in the booklet that is supplied with the heater. As the heater capacity is 6.0kW, one would need to have a dedicated supply from the distribution board with a 30 Amp.M.C.B and 4.0 mm twin with electrical wire running independently, to the heater with a 32 Amp DP Switch.
What type of plumbing is needed to feed water to the heater?
One does not have to do special plumbing for the heater. The requirement is that a source of cold water is available to feed the heater.
Can we use borehole water for the heater?
Yes. On condition, that the water does not have a lot of mineral deposits, making the water “hard”. If the water source is of “Hard Water”, a water softening device is to be installed prior to supplying the heater.
How does hard water affect the heater?
If any heating device comes into contact with “hard water”, the minerals in it tend to deposit onto the element and over a period of time, making it unserviceable.
What if while showering water splashes onto the heater panel?
All our shower panels are constructed with close fitting joints, to prevent leakages into the compartment holding the electronics.
Will one get continuous hot water until the temperature controller is switched off?
Yes, the heating element is embedded into a small water storage tank and therefore the heater is always in contact with the water.
Can the water storage tank leak?
The storage tank in the system has an Anti-Leak Clamp Tank Design with a rubber seal preventing leakage into the system.
What is a Built-in Booster Pump?
Several of our heaters come with a Built-in Booster Pump, to pressurize the out flow of the water from the heater. This is helpful if the incoming pressure in the plumbing is so low that one can not have a comfortable shower.
